WHAT THE CRITICS ARE SAYING:

"This is a great place.  The hostess, Sue was very nice.  The owner, Emanuella had our table waiting for us and she is friendly and fun.  The inside has stars on the ceiling, roman columns, and cool decorations.  The twinkling lights were awesome.  We all thought the food was great tasting, My brother, Tim had the creamiest fettuccini alfredo that he ever had.  My dad likes his chicken with penne and dijon mustard sauce.  My little sister Pammy said her ravioli was delicious.   Mom really enjoyed the individual pizza, it had a good, thick crust and great cheese.  I absolutely loved my lasagna and it came with a crisp-noodle garnish that I loved.  For dessert we all shared a big delicious portion of cheesecake and my sister had the best orange sorbet which is like sherbet.  Come here to eat at this so beautiful, and great tasting food restaurant!  There is a mural ceiling that is painted to copy the art works of Michael Angelo in the Sistine Chapel in Italy.   Because the owners last names are Angelo they thought it was a good idea."
Douglas Kennedy, For Kids Only!, February-March 1999.

"Italian comfort and delight at La Pastaria" Red Bank Downtowner, December 1998

"At La Pastaria, the very room pays homage to Michelangelo, playfully, with fragments of his Sistine Chapel frescoes illustrated on the walls.  A starry ceiling gives a romantic sparkle, and the warmth of the staff, under the direction of Emmanuella Angelo, makes the place feel comforting.  "Pastaria food is food people are familiar with but with flair.  If the food is familiar, people are more likely to try it."  La Pastaria's menu offers a large array of pasta dishes, all available in half-portions, as well as plenty of antipastos, entrees, and salads.  The restaurant has a raw bar with fresh shellfish, and a pizza oven.  A visit to La Pastaria can satisfy anyone's tastes and appetites, from the simplest lunch to the most sumptuous dinner.  "Specials are mostly fish, pork and veal dishes that accent the menu and let us experiment.  The concept of this restaurant is that the creative side of us comes out with the specials and what we want to make."

"Popular La Pastaria in Summit definitely worth the wait" The Daily Record, November 1996

"....it’s easy to see why La Pastaria is so popular. The decor, with impressive trompe l’oeil murals, garlands strung with tiny lights, and angels hovering above the decoupaged tables, is creatively inviting. The Italian menu, offering lots of pizza and pasta, is another attraction. The casual atmosphere, sometimes bordering on boisterous, makes everyone, especially large groups and families with children, feel comfortable. ....Once seated, the service was pleasant and efficiently paced..."

"La Pastaria serves authentic old-world Italian specialties in a charming atmosphere" The Courier, March 7, 1996

"...If it's Italian specialties you're in the mood for, La Pastaria is the place for you.  La Pastaria is definitely a family affair.   "It's in the genes," Emanuella said.  They come from four generations of chefs.   "All of our dishes are authentic home cooking, made from recipes handed down over the generations," The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner.  A unique thing about their menu is that you can order as much or as little as you want, so you can sample several menu items.  My companion absolutely loved the lasagna, made with wide, home-made noodles which almost melted in your mouth.  The sauce was also fabulous.  I have never tasted a lasagna like this in any restaurant - it was absolutely a work of art.  Although you'll be stuffed after experiencing these exquisite offerings, be sure to save some room for their luscious desserts, all made on the premises."

"New restaurant brings taste of Italy to Summit" Primetime Independent Press, February 1994

"If you want to find a little bit of Tuscany in Summit, just make your way to La Pastaria. Upon entering, you are greeted as cordially as if you were entering her home. ....everything is freshly-made and to order for the customer. La Pastaria boasts a menu of variety, both lunch and dinner....All the desserts are homemade.... The decor is one of an inside Tuscan courtyard with a tile floor and walls painted a tawny stucco color.....Customers have described the food as "outrageous."
